The French are carving a smart niche in improbable modern supercars. Just look at the Bugatti Veyron- OK, so it's built by the Germans, but Bugatti is a French marque, so we're sticking with it - and the ridiculous Citroen GT (to enter very limited production)!

Could be a while before we see this one get built, though. This is the Bugatti Stratos concept from French designer Bruno Delusso, and it's as production-viable as a lead crystal chassis.

We still like it, though. Don't worry about inconsequential details like, say, how those wheels actually make contact with the ground, or what the hell it's powered by - we're guessing it distills the power of philosophical disillusionment into zero-emissions energy - and just admire the simple lunacy of the thing.

Just think of it as a cheeky weekend coupe from a parallel universe, a universe without multi-story parking spaces or speedbumps or, er, other cars. Top Gear's perfect universe, in other words...

Rolls-Royce’s new flagship

In all the fuss over the new 'baby Rolls-Royce' – the Ghost/200EX – don't ignore this new very-big-Rolls: the PJ World Yacht.

OK, it's not strictly a Rolls-Royce – in fact, it's an Ice Class mega-yacht from shipbuilder Palmer Johnson – but the World Yacht has been built in collaboration with Goodwood-and-Crewe's favourite luxo-merchants... which means it's deeply, deeply plush.

Rolls-Royce Yacht - Interior

Rolls-Royce Yacht - Gym

The World Yacht measures 82 meters from bow to stern, and is packed with all the stuff a discerning billionaire requires for a jaunt across the Arctic: swimming pool, gym, spa, cinema... and even a helicopter pad with elevator access.

Rolls-Royce Yacht - Side

Rolls-Royce Yacht - Room

In total there are six floors of leather-clad, immaculately polished goodness, and it's all powered by a Rolls-Royce engine: a giant six-cylinder diesel, which draws from a 260,000-liter fuel tank and is capable of hauling the World Yacht along at a heady 16.5 knots. A bit more sedate than the Phantom Coupe, then.

Our favourite feature? The pirate-repelling water cannons. You know those icy Arctic pirates. They do hate to get wet...

Now watch James and a 1,000hp powerboat race Richard and a Ferrari:
