Expand your horizons a little bit. Actors Paul Walker and Nicholas Cage are both avid and fenominal drivers. Most driving scenes they are in they do their own driving. Or change it up big time and make the US Stig a woman?

I can already imagine the intro:

“Some say her favorite perfume is 93 octane gasoline, and that she uses Mobil 1 as body lotion. All we know is she’s called The Stigette.“

Travis Pastrana.

Ugh. Puh-lease.

From what I hear, one of you just may be right about the Stig’s ID.  wink

I think they’ll get cheap and use Tanner… (I think he can drive.)

Just cuz he’s a good drifter doesn’t make him a good track driver. I haven’t been all that impressed with the Drifting scene at all. Mainly because I grew up in farm country USA, where everyone, including the girl drivers have been drifting around corners from the day they got behind a wheel. With all the icy winter conditions, it’s hard NOT to get er sideways through a lot of corners…and in the summer we just hop on the back roads and do it for fun.

The last actual ticket I got on my motorcycle was when 2 buddies and I were dirt tracking it around the corners in town here on our rice rockets for giggles and laughs.

Sooo, even the most casual driver in the upper states has more real sideways miles under their belt then Jeremy put on his Ford GT before returning it…

If you look closely at the stunt credits for many driving movies, drifters are the ones doing all the non-drifting cool sh…..stuff.  While there are exceptions to everything, I bet some of those drifters could out-drive many classically trained racers.

And just cause you can drive your truck sideways in the dirt, doesn’t mean you could stick it sideways on the asphalt just a few inches from your competitor at 50+ mph.  I used to say the same thing, but watch a LIVE drifting challenge and tell me you don’t change your mind.

Well, there aren’t many things in this world that I claim to be good at, but I betcha if I had some proper seat time in one of those drifter cars I’d keep right up with them. Maybe not the top dogs, but the average drivers I would.

I could be blowing my own horn without proper cause, but I’ve always felt that my one talent in life is operating anything with a steering wheel, handlebars etc.

I’ve never done asphalt (only need more power to be honest) but in my youth we used to get some mad games of cat and mouse going on the ice where I’d be backing it into the corners between parked cars on the side of narrow side streets with a front wheel drive. Half the people who’d try to catch me would break out laughing cuz they never saw a front wheel drive slide around like that without using the hand brake. LOL The only time they ever caught me was when I ran out of corners. I was way underpowered compaired to the people I was up against.

The Stig’s American Cousin was big enough to be Tony Stewart.

Tony Stewart is good on road courses because of his open wheel origins, but if you’re looking for a NASCAR driver to be the US Stig there’s only one option: Jeff Gordon.

You would pick Jeff Gordon over AJ Allmendinger? Boris Said? Scott Speed? Juan-Pablo Montoya?

Gordon is a great driver in his own right, but his road course abilities and accomplishments pale in comparison to others in the NASCAR ranks. Jeff is a great driver and I will go to my grave saying that he is the best wingless sprint/midget/silver crown driver in history, but I don’t see him as any more than a historic side note when it comes to road courses or driving a sports car.

Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t want a Nascar driver as the Stig, but Gordon’s niche in Nascar was his outstanding ability to manage a road course.

Pulled from USA Today: “Who are the drivers to beat? For one, Jeff Gordon, NASCAR’s all-time leader with nine road-course victories, five at Infineon. But Gordon has yet to win this season and has been 14th and 18th the last two weeks.“

Where’d you come up with the Gordon can’t do a road course idea? raspberry

File that under beautiful by comparison. lol

Gordon may be good compared to the other NASCAR regulars, but I can’t put him in the league with the guys who grew up on road circuits.
