You can’t fail to have missed Tesla’s sales tactics. Claim you’re saving the world with electric power, while simultaneously smashing all kinds of acceleration records - ones set by actual supercars - with a heavy, battery-filled saloon.
Its latest version of the Model S saloon is called the P100D. Yeah, it will apparently do 315 miles on one charge if you’re careful. But you won’t want to be. For if you engage its ‘Ludicrous Mode’, you will hit 60mph in 2.5 seconds. Only a Porsche 918 Spyder, LaFerrari or Bugatti Chiron will have a hope of beating you at the lights.
It’s not the only Very Blooming Fast saloon car on sale, though. So join our whistle-stop tour of the world’s fastest four-door cars, where it sits alongside numerous Porsches and practically every AMG Merc under the sun. As always, have a flick through the gallery and let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed…
Oh, and owing to the slightly inconsistent world of claimed figures, you’ll see it’s a mix between 0-60s and 0-62s.
