Final thoughts and pick of the range

Practical and pretty, Jaguar's first SUV is arguably the best car it makes

The F-Pace might not be the sharpest Jag to drive, nor the best looking. By SUV standards it’s quite athletic, mind. Alongside the new XF Sportbrake, though, it’s the easiest new Jaguar to recommend.

The breadth of its powertrain options mean there should be a car to suit the needs and budgets of most buyers in this part of the market, and the F-Pace they end up with will be among the sharper cars to drive in the class, too.

If fun handling is your top priority you still want a Porsche Macan, or the new Alfa Romeo Stelvio. But the F-Pace isn’t far off the pace of either, and it offers far more wallet friendly drivetrains and running costs.
