Peugeot

Peugeot

Of the big three French marques, Peugeot is the one struggling most to find an identity. Renault and Citroen have both made quality leaps but managed to keep their quirky sides pretty much intact, but Peugeot’s range lacks energy. Worthy, competent, but less solid than Germans and without the compensatory pizzazz.

  • Peugeot 107

    107

    £7,222 - £8,622

Third in the trilogy of city cars produced with Toyota and Citroen. Perky and neat, but unless you’ve got some kind of strange lion fetish buy the Toyota Aygo.

  • Peugeot 207

    207

    £9,637 - £16,132

That’s more like it – a 206 with better looks, sharper handling and better packaging. None of which is saying much, but it’s a step closer to the still-way-ahead Clio.

  • Peugeot 207 CC

    207 CC

    £15,617 - £18,617

Of the tin-top cabrio breed, this is a decent new version of one of the originals. Fine, but it’s such a mincing machine Burger King is thinking of placing an order.

  • Peugeot 207 SW

    207 SW

    £11,487 - £16,287

Oddly effective yet equally oddly undesirable entry in the small estate class. By some strange trick it’s got much more space than the bigger 407 SW. Weird

  • Peugeot 308

    308

    £12,157 - £22,107

Enthusiastic attempt to inject real quality into the 307 segment. Fine, but making it goggly-eyed ugly wasn’t the stroke of genius we were hoping for. Falls short.

  • Peugeot 308 CC

    308 CC

    £18,662 - £24,932

Peugeot's aiming for increased quality with its latest hatch - only time will tell. Unlike the face, which is instantly ugly. More luxury inside, and it's bigger too

  • Peugeot 308 SW

    308 SW

    £13,898 - £21,592

When we said the 308 falls short, we didn’t mean we wanted them to physically make it longer. But in fairness they’ve improved it by adding a huge load area.

  • Peugeot 4007

    4007

    £22,347 - £26,242

Awfully ordinary entry into the dreary end of the Vectra market. Not even the best of the French contingent – the Citroen C5 has moved the goalposts to another field.

  • Peugeot 407

    407

    £16,842 - £25,842

Awfully ordinary entry into the dreary end of the Vectra market. Not even the best of the French contingent – the Citroen C5 has moved the goalposts to another field.

  • Peugeot 407 SW

    407 SW

    £17,842 - £24,697

As with the 308, the estate version improves on an insipid donor vehicle, but don’t run away with the idea this is a spacious load-lugger. Miniature dogs only.

  • Peugeot 607

    607

    £24,800 - £28,845

If you thought the 407 was dull, this French ministerial runabout is hypnotically sleep-inducing. Don’t operate heavy machinery if you’ve just driven one.

  • Peugeot 807

    807

    £20,297 - £28,597

Huge MPV with delusions of Espace, but so boxy it resembles the first-generation Renault. Shares lineage with Citroen’s creaky C8. Your family can do better than this.

  • Peugeot Partner Tepee

    Partner Tepee

Tsk. Another van-with-windows named after native North American accommodation structures. When will they ever stop?
