Drive the new Aston Martin DBX707 in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS
From Silverstone challenges with Damon Hill to exciting in-game integration, discover the heritage manufacturer’s intriguing linkup with this all-action video game
Find out what happened when WackyJacky101, the popular gaming YouTuber and streamer and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS veteran, got behind the wheel of the real-life Aston Martin DBX707 with an F1 legend.
Sometimes, the best games are the simple ones. That’s the inherent appeal of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS – you and 99 other players are dropped into a special location, and your goal is to vanquish your foes until you’re the sole survivor. The hook is staring you right in the face, and that’s why you love it.
But if you’re a seasoned player, you’ll know that what keeps you coming back for more is all the detail. From skins to full scale patch updates, this game allows you to dial up your experience and hone your skills, while constantly facing fresh challenges.
This is what pushes KRAFTON, the South Korean company behind PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, to constantly seek out illustrious collaborations with the likes of k-pop group BLACKPINK, sports stars such as footballer Neymar Júnior and even CAPCOM’s Street Fighter 6 game. Now, it’s Aston Martin’s turn, with players able to use their Crafter Pass to access the DBX707 in-game. And that’s just the beginning…
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS – for the uninitiated
If you’re new to the game, you won’t stay that way for long. In this online multiplayer shooter, your game session starts when you parachute from a transport plane onto your chosen spot on the map, which will then become your battleground. As soon as you set feet on terra firma, the scramble for survival begins.
Your job is to loot as many of the available weapons, armour and supply boxes as possible to set your character on the path to victory – but you’ll want to keep an eye over your shoulder, as there are enemies everywhere. You’ll find yourself constantly tested in impressively realised battle scenes with a wide range of weird and wonderful weaponry, including heavy duty frying pans!
It won’t be easy to eliminate all 99 other players, but a sturdy, powerful car to get around in certainly helps. That, as per the latest patch update, is where Aston Martin comes in.
Start your engines
Conquering the battlegrounds never looked so classy, thanks to the Aston Martin in-game skins. Activating your Crafter Pass gives you the opportunity to drive either the V12 Vantage Roadster or the DBX707, and if you choose the latter, the possibilities are virtually endless.
As the world’s most powerful SUV, the DBX707 is an iron fist in a velvet glove, taking you across the often-unforgiving battle terrain in the most luxurious way possible. You can take it into the workshop and choose from a variety of 37 customisable items. But all these options aren’t just for show – the hues you choose might impact your vehicle’s visibility to opposition players in the game, so how risky are you willing to be?
Driving for real
But it’s not just within the PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS universe that Aston Martin and KRAFTON are celebrating this historic collaboration. They brought WackyJacky101, the popular gaming YouTuber & streamer and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS veteran, to Silverstone for a pretty unique driving challenge – this time in the real DBX707.
This wasn’t just any track day, though. WackyJacky101 was mentored by none other than 1996 Formula One World Champion and all-round British motor racing legend, Damon Hill. After giving him a suitable fright at the wheel, Damon handed the keys and a few pearls of wisdom over to the gamer to observe his skills and then score him at the end.
