A new pace of life with the Kia Stinger

More from Kia’s new 3.3 litre twin-turbo sports GT on the roads and tracks of the UK

  • With a 3.3 litre, twin-turbo V6 engine and a top speed of 270 km/h, the new Kia Stinger sports GT is certainly no ordinary Kia – and to prove it, this summer the car headed to the roads and tracks of the UK for the very first time to face a series of ultimate tests in the hands of some experts...

First up, a meeting with four selected petrolheads at the legendary Cadwell Park circuit, known as the “mini-Nurburgring”, and one very special chauffeur: World Touring Car champion Rob Huff. As the man himself says: "there was quite a lot of swearing!" What would our selected group of car fans make of the Kia Stinger as it was seen in the UK for the very first time?

To find out, click here to watch the video and go behind the scenes on the day

Next, a high-performance test at the limit: Rob Huff at his fastest in a flat-out lap around the tight bends and straights of Cadwell Park, with every bump and rumble-strip captured in full 360 VR. Rarely for Lincolnshire, the weather was perfect - and Rob was impressed:

"The Stinger was amazingly impressive. It has so much grip. And plenty of power - the mapping is very good, it's very smooth, it's very progressive, there are no holes in the map all the way from nothing to the top of the rev range. And behind those nice wheels it's got Brembo brakes on it, so you know it's going to stop very well and pull itself up when you ask it to. The grip and traction were amazing. The lap times we were doing, I imagine, were not far off race cars around Cadwell Park. And that to me is hugely impressive."

To experience the lap in full 360 VR, head this way

And finally, the Stinger headed north from Lincolnshire to the drive of a lifetime through the stunning roads of the Scottish Highlands: impressing the deer, red squirrels and other local denizens in the dream destination for any sports GT. A fitting end to the Stinger's debut in the UK, where it cerrtainly made some new friends...

For all the action, plus full interviews with racing driver Rob Huff and Kia’s Head of Vehicle Test and High Performance Development Albert Biermann, just head this way…
