Should Tesla build drive-in cinemas to Supercharger stations?

Elon Musk teases plan to make EV charging more fun. May include popcorn

Published: 10 Jan 2018

Tesla boss Elon Musk is a busy man with a lot of priorities. He has to fulfil orders for the new Tesla Model 3. He has to build a new Tesla Roadster and a massive truck. He even wants to send things into space.

Now, it appears he also wants to make charging up your Tesla just that little bit more fun. By installing a drive-in cinema to a charging spot.

The Twitter-friendly Musk revealed on the social media site how he’s going to “put an old school, drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA”. Somewhere near the 405, apparently. Not an old Peugeot, sadly, but a road.

In fact, he liked one Twitter user’s suggestion that you could order your food from said restaurant via the car’s touchscreen. “We can just have the menu pop up as soon as you put the car into park”. Saves having to shout out of the window.

Responding to another user’s request for popcorn – Musk confirmed that yes, popcorn will happen. And “an outdoor screen that plays a highlight reel of the best scenes in movie history”.

So, denizens of Los Angeles, you might be in for a treat. Equally, you might not, because he might never do it. In any case, the rise of the EV is now unstoppable. Reckon this is a good way to distract from the charging time? Let us know below.
