Loads more content coming to EA WRC, including 2024 WRC cars
Prepare to send hatchbacks down country lanes at speeds not even a delivery van would countenance
Here’s something refreshing: a licensed motorsport title from EA that, it appears, isn’t rushing out a new version but instead building on the existing game.
WRC released last November and while we haven’t heard anything on a fully fledged sequel yet, developer Codemasters has laid out a roadmap of substantial content additions to the game that stretch as far as spring 2025.
Following the season 6 rally pass, which released 30 July and added a long list of nee cosmetics like vehicle liveries and helmets, the next big drop will be the 2024 season expansion in October.
As the name cunningly alludes to, this expansion brings the game up to date with the latest WRC season including new vehicles, updated liveries, new locations and new helmets.
Two further DLC drops are planned, the first arriving this winter, followed by a second in spring 2025. Both will add more cars, additional stages for existing locations, and more of those brilliantly snackable ‘Moments’ challenges that set you up in a particular car, stage, and scenario.
These are a big part of what keeps TG coming back to WRC - nursing an injured Lancer through a South American mountain trail, without the inherent guilt of having done the damage in the first place and the knowledge that we don’t have to commit three hours to seeing the whole rally through. Just one stage, a leaderboard, and a chance to drive with the kind of maniacal abandon that the real WRC lot manage so routinely.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed for this lot just yet, but if you purchase the 2024 WRC expansion those two additional DLCs are included. Sounds like good value to us.
