Spain! This is your new BMW M4 'CS'
'Civilised' M4 GTS for Spain announced, gets slightly more power and more speed
Hands up who remembers the BMW M3 CS from the E46 era? It was essentially a boosted M3 that sat below the full-fat CSL - which of course, remains one of the world's finest ever M cars. Now BMW has revived the nomenclature for a limited edition.
It's the new BMW M4 CS, based around the rather lovely new M4 GTS, but said to be 'more civilised'. Before you get terribly excitable, it's only being built for Spain. Even then, just 60 models will be produced in total. And even then, all we've got to go on is this shady picture. Boo.
So what do you get for an unspecified sum of Euros? Details at this stage are thin, but BMW Spain tells us it gets rear seats (which the GTS doesn't), a bit more power than the standard M4 Coupe (so somewhere between 430bhp and the GTS's 493bhp - let's say 450bhp), 20in wheels, adaptive dampers, and carbon ceramic brakes.
You'll spot the lovely carbon fibre rear spoiler from the shady image above, which sits alongside other carbon fibre body parts. There is more grip. There is a seven-speed double clutch auto 'box. There is a new limited top speed of 174mph. All in, we're promised more grip, and track ability coupled with proper 'day-to-day' usability.
We'll have more details soon. Like the sound of a slighter harder M4/softer GTS? And if so, should BMW bring it over to the UK?
