These are the first pictures of the new Ford Focus ST estate
The Focus ST gets a bigger boot so your dogs can enjoy B roads too
So, you love hot hatches, but you also love dogs and want to take them with you wherever you go. Well, we’ve got good news for you - you’ll fit right in with the rest of the TG team, welcome aboard.
There’s more good news for you too, because Ford has finally released images of the new Focus ST estate. Looks good, doesn’t it? The Focus is now a more grown-up car, but there’s enough swollen arch and alloy wheel in the ST estate to show everyone that you're not the boring so-and-so in the corner of the pub type.
And just look at that lovely big boot. Oooft. 1653-litres of bootylicious to fill with whatever the hell you like; dogs, logs or a bazillion Pogs.
Elsewhere, the estate is pretty much identical to the hatch. When it goes on sale in the summer you’ll be able to get any Focus ST with a 187bhp diesel engine, but, of course, you’ll want the petrol-powered 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo which puts out 276bhp and 310lb ft of torque. Your dogs will thank you, trust us.
Whatever body style you go for, you’ll also get Ford’s new electronic limited-slip diff, selectable drive modes, lowered suspension and an optional ‘Performance Pack’.
The extra space of the estate does come at a premium though, prices for the petrol will start at £33,095 - £1,100 more than the hatchback.
Just the other day we asked whether you’d take a new Focus ST over a used Mercedes E63 AMG, and we’ll ask the same question now you’ve seen the estate. Would you?
