Maserati GranTurismo news - Geneva show: Maserati GranTurismo - 2007
When you've got a car as good-looking as the Maserati GranTurismo, does it really need company - even company like that?
Though it hasn't been explicitly billed as such, the GranTurismo is the replacement for the current Maserati Coupe. It's a forward-looking design sharing much with the Quattroporte... check out those three holes behind the front arches for evidence of the heritage.
Indeed, the GranTurismo is based on the same platform as the Quattroporte, though the wheelbase is a fraction shorter than Maserati's luxury four-door.
It gets the same Ferrari-sourced 4.2-litre V8 as the current Coupe, fettled to produce 405bhp - a jump of 15bhp. All that power is channelled through an auto 'box, which should be a huge improvement over the Coupe's rubbery paddle-shift.
With Maserati promising near-even weight distribution, we're hoping the GranTurismo will be as good to drive as it is to look at.
