Skoda has built a road-going 188bhp Fabia Rally2 hot hatch…
But it’s only limited to 100 cars. And there’s another thing…
The hot hatch lives! Sort of! Skoda has lime-greened the sensibleness out of its very sensible Fabia and pumped it up to create a limited-edition hot hatch. Behold: the Fabia Rally2.
It celebrates the Spanish Rally Super Championship titles won by José Antonio Suárez. It is nuclear green. And it’s only available in Spain. Boo.
Which is a shame, because this most powerful of Fabia hatches looks like a bit of fun. Sold only in Skoda’s RS colours – ‘Mamba Green’ or ‘You Wouldn’t Like Me When I’m Angry Green’ – there’s the VW Group’s familiar 1.5-litre turbo four-pot underneath.
Noted VW tuner ABT has had at it, and while there’s no detail on its ‘power kit’ for the Rally2, it’s likely an additional ABT ECU module with bespoke performance software that works alongside the Skoda’s factory-programmed electronic brain.
As such, there’s an increase of around 40bhp, taking the Fabia from 148bhp to 188bhp, while torque rises to 214lb ft. A decent wallop of power, that, all harnessed by a seven-speed DSG ‘box and FWD.
The suspension’s been tweaked, too – again, no details but likely a new set of springs – sitting 15mm lower than a regular Fabia. You’ll also spot new 17in black OZ Racing wheels running Michelin PS5s, many logos, sports seats, and yet more badging, including an ID plate signed by Señor Suárez.
As mentioned, just 100 of these will be built priced at €30,900 each. Customers will also get a chance to passenger with Suárez in his competition Rally2 car as a bonus.
That’s fine, Skoda. We’re busy doing other stuff. Don’t even like hot hatches over here in the UK anyway.
