Watch a GT-R-engined Nissan Qashqai hit 222mph
Severn Valley Motorsport’s Qashqai R returns to decimate all. At a dizzying v-max
Last year, Top Gear was very kindly granted a drive in Severn Valley Motorsport’s FrankenQai; a modified Qashqai with the underpinnings of a very highly tuned Nissan GT-R.
We were told many things about the 1,100bhp ‘Qashqai R’; things like a 0-62mph time of 2.7 seconds, a 0-124mph time of 7.5 seconds, a quarter mile time of 9.9 seconds and a top speed north of 200mph.
How north? Well, today, we learn that the Qashqai R will in fact hit a heady top speed of 222mph. Yes. Two hundred and twenty two miles per hour. In a Qashqai.
In the video above, you’ll see evidence of this herculean speed feat. SVM took the Qashqai R out to a recent Vmax event at Bruntingthorpe, whereby it promptly showed a 950bhp modified GT-R its heels, by sprinting off into the distance at over 200mph.
We don’t need to remind you what kind of company that puts the modified Qashqai R into: things like LaFerrari, Porsche’s 918 Spyder, a McLaren P1 and Lamborghini Aventador.
You can read more on what the Qashqai R is like to drive at this link here. Tell us, what should SVM – or even Nissan, for that matter – stick that GT-R engine into next?
