Question of the Week: what’s the most inappropriate production car to take racing?
Dreaming of a 700bhp Kia Ceed or a sub-tonne MG ZS powered by rocket fuel? The comment section is your oyster
Who else was shocked yet bemused when Skoda unveiled the Enyaq RS last week? Despite the unchanged 335bhp dual-motor powertrain, the RS gains new shock absorbers and springs, carbon ceramic brakes and a revised steering setup.
It’s also gone on a 300kg diet to help slip into that sharper suit easier, and has a trick system which pumps artificial sound into the cabin for a more traditional experience. But why? Why build a racing car without intending to, umm, take it racing? We’ve been trying to figure it out all weekend and concluded that it… doesn’t matter.
And it got us thinking: what do you reckon would be the most inappropriate production car - past or present - for a manufacturer to hoon up and take racing? We’re not limiting you to electric powertrains either, so feel free to knock yourself out between a jumped-up Citroen Ami, a Weight Watchers-spec Dacia Jogger and everything in between.
Do include the type of motorsport you want to enter your car into as well, and the specific changes/modifications you’d make. Time to get creative.
