This ex-Mike Skinner Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is fit and it knows it
A Grand Don’t Come For Free, particularly when you’re trying to run an old Rolls-Royce
Yes, this is a modified Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow on air suspension. And yes, those are Porsche 928 front seats. And yes, for fans of UK garage, this is the exact car that featured on the cover of The Streets’ album ‘The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living’. We were interested by the first two of those facts, but the latter makes this car ridiculously cool.
In fact, this particular Roller was actually owned by the group’s leader Mike Skinner, and he commissioned the modifications before it appeared on the 2006 album. Oh, and it made a second The Streets appearance in the video of ‘None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive’ (2020).
Here’s the best news though – the 1974 Silver Shadow is currently up for auction on Collecting Cars, with bidding at £22,000 at the time of writing and a deadline of 18 May at 8:15pm.
Apparently the car was originally painted ‘Caribbean Aqua’ with a white roof, but Skinner had it repainted in black and fitted with those glorious 22-inch Center Line Smoothie wheels. There’s also a twin-pipe centre exit exhaust and custom rear seats to match the retrimmed Porsche items up front. As you’d expect, there’s an upgraded sound system too with a Pioneer head unit, additional speakers and Alpine screens in the back of the headrests.
So come on, Don’t Mug Yourself and get a bid in before it’s too late…
