What you see above is the remains of a Gumpert Apollo. It is no longer in any position to present itself as the same model which can lap our track in record time. A 20-year-old took this very Gump’ - his dad’s prized £275,000 hypercar - for a spin but lost control of it around a bend, binning it biblically.

Luckily, he and his 19-year-old female passenger emerged virtually unscathed after the smash, which happened in the German town of Brokdorf, near Hamburg. Unluckily for the Gumpert, well, as you can see, it no longer ‘works’.

A police spokesman helpfully added: “The car is a total loss.”
