Veritas RSIII news - Veritas to build SUV? - 2009

Remember the ridiculous Veritas RSIII that Richard drove in the last series?

Well, how do you fancy an SUV version? Seriously. Reports are reaching us from Germany that Veritas is planning a limited run of carbon fibre off-roaders.

We can’t imagine, even for a second, what the hell it’s going to look like. Bizarre, we’d guess.

But, should it happen, the Veritas SUV will be fast. The open-cockpit RSIII, remember, hits 60mph in something pretty close to three seconds flat, courtesy of a 620bhp BMW-sourced V10.

The SUV could be equally perception-bending, especially if it’s powered by… an airplane engine.

Oh yes. We hear rumours that the Veritas SUV will pack a small aircraft engine. May we humbly suggest the 27-litre, V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin?

It also looks likely that, in addition to the 30 or so open-cockpit RSIIIs planned for production, Veritas will build roughly the same number of coupe RSIIIs.

Starting price? A mere £250,000…

Now watch Richard thrash the lightweight German racer:
