Listen* to the new V6-engined Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale at 217mph
*Sort of. From what you can make out, is this a noise befitting of that stunning shape?
Monday blues getting you down? Here’s a clip of the new 620bhp twin-turbo V6-powered Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale hitting 207mph (333kph) around Italy’s Nardo test track. Yep, consider those blues gone.
It’s a raspy sound that peaks around the 32-second mark, followed by a gorgeous rolling shot where you can catch those gold Teledial alloys spinning away. Careful not to stare too long, you’ll end up in a trance like we did.
There’s also a short demo of the car idling mid-way through the video, and despite this engine being a mild evolution of the bi-turbo V6 found in the Giulia Quadrifoglio, it sounds very different. Those who’ve opted for the tri-motor electric version: having second thoughts?
The one complaint we do have is the annoying use of Stop Watch by Hans Zimmer playing over most of the clip. You may recognise it from 2013’s Rush, and while it’s a good instrumental, why not just use all 51 seconds to demonstrate the car’s full vocal range?
Anyway, just 33 units will ever be made between both powertrain options, and all have been completely sold out at a pre-tax price of €1.7 million each - or £1.41 million on this side of the Channel.
Whaddya reckon to the noise?
