Wallpapers: McLaren 570S vs 911 Turbo S vs Audi R8 V10 Plus

McLaren’s ‘baby’ supercar goes against its toughest rivals in order to please your eyes

The McLaren 570S is the Woking carmaker’s entry-level supercar. At £143,250, it’s about £60k cheaper than the 650S but also punishingly powerful and horrendously fast.

Want some numbers? Try this on: 570bhp, 204mph, 0-62 in 3.2 seconds and 0-125 in 9.5. It’s as fast as the fabled McLaren F1. And this, let’s not forget, is the firm’s entry-level car.

An entry-level car that hits 100mph in 6.3 seconds. Talk about progress.

But it also has some stiff competition, most notably in the shape of Porsche’s dominant 911 Turbo S and Audi’s brand new V10 R8.

The 911 Turbo is the original everyday supercar. It’s the template others copy and arguably the reason Audi built the original R8 and why we now have a McLaren 570S.

Audi’s new R8, as expected, is a meticulous, thorough, well thought-out evolution of the original car. It’s still four-wheel-drive, it’s still mid-engined, and it still packs a helluva punch, but everything has gotten lighter, stiffer and faster.

How would they compare on the gorgeous Serra da Estrela mountain range in Portugal? Well you’ll have to read this story to find out. Then watch this rather excellent video to hear them roar.

When you’re done, come back here and grab some snaps from the tremendous triple test from photography supremo Mark Fagelson.

All you have to do is click the full screen/make-it-big icon in bottom-right of the gallery above, scroll through the picture that takes your fancy and then save the super hi-res image.
