Question: you’ve got just 24 hours with a 740bhp, very wide, carbonfibre-fanged Italian supercar. Where do you start your journey?
California? The Stelvio Pass? A fast, warm and well-paved race track with plenty of run-off?
How about London’s A40? In Top Gear's case, yes. Our capital’s unglamorous arterial road was precisely where we started our long night with new Aventador LP 750-4 SV.
Super Veloce, of course, is Italian for ‘super speed’. The yet-more-rapid version of Sant’Agata’s V12 halo car - the Aventador – with 740bhp from a glorious, naturally aspirated V12, all-wheel-drive traction, air-bending downforce and a top speed of more than 217mph. The latter is not so useful in central London.
But the plan wasn’t to stay long. Once we’d cleared the crowds of cameraphones, we pointed the Aventador’s nose in the direction of countryside, to let the raging bull run free under the stars.
