This £1.3m Diablo restomod reboots the ultimate poster Lamborghini
Welcome back, ya’ big scissor-doored V12 loon
Should the shiny new Lamborghini Temerario and its V8 prove a little underwhelming for your tastes, perhaps a trip in a time machine might help. A trip right back to the Nineties for a meeting with one of the original poster cars, the Lamborghini Diablo.
Except of course, there’s a twist: this isn’t a Lamborghini, but the latest in a long line of restomodding old supercars for a nostalgic audience. Step forward, the Eccentrica Cars Diablo.
It’s the idea of a man called Emanuel Colombini, who wanted to pay homage to a Lambo that left a very strong impression on him as a kid. And something tells us this one will leave quite the mark, too.
Underneath there’s a beefed-up chassis hosting a 5.7-litre V12. There are new brakes. New alloys. Plentiful carbon fibre. And a completely new body. We packed Jason Barlow off to Italy to learn more about the best restomod you’ll likely see this year.
