The Top Gear car review:Lexus RX
Running costs and reliability
The RX starts at £48,645 on-the-road, with the seven-seat RX L commanding a slight premium at £50,995, though you’ll probably want to move up to at least to the mid-grade models to get a few extras like the larger in-car display.
Its hybrid system proves efficient if you do lots of lower speed urban driving, where the electric motors get more time to drive the wheels. On a more extended and hilly drive in the RX L, we still saw an average nearing 40mpg.
Lexus offers a three-year or 60,000-mile warranty, with certain components in the hybrid drivetrain getting five-year cover. Service plans are available, too, with the maintenance due once a year, or every 10,000 miles.
