Alfa Spider news - Alfa to show off new Spider - 2006
There will be a Spider loose at the Geneva motor show, and it's Alfa Romeo that will be releasing it.
The new Alfa Spider convertible takes its styling lead from the Brera coupe but is a strict two-seater.
Power comes from a 185bhp, 2.2-litre four-cylinder or 3.2 V6 with 260bhp.
The V6 Spider uses Alfa's Q4 four-wheel-drive system, and all-new Spider models will be on sale in the UK in June, with prices starting around £23,000 for the 2.2-litre model.
Also making its first public appearance at Geneva is Alfa's Sportwagon estate version of the 159.
Sticking with the previous model's style as a five-door coupe, the 159 Sportwagon has a sweeping roofline, although Alfa is keen to point out that the new model has more load space than the previous 156 version.
Engines for the Sportwagon are the same as for the saloon, covering 1.9, 2.2 and 3.2 V6, while there's a 150bhp, 1.9 litre turbodiesel and 2.4 five-cylinder turbodiesel with 200bhp.
The 3.2 V6 version of the 159 Sportwagon will come with standard four-wheel drive.
Prices for the Sportwagon are expected to be £1,000 more than the saloon when it goes on sale in May.
