Jensen is back! Brit firm is planning a new V8 GT inspired by the Interceptor

Jensen International Automotive has plans to launch an “ultra-high-performance, luxury GT” that’s built in Britain

Unexpected announcement of the day – the Jensen Interceptor is back! Well, sort of.

There have been many attempted Interceptor revivals since Jensen Motors was dissolved back in 2011, but as you may have noticed, none have actually resulted in a brilliantly titled modern production car.

However, Banbury-based firm Jensen International Automotive (JIA) has been restomodding original Interceptors and all-wheel drive FFs for a number of years, fitting a variety of LS V8s, auto gearboxes and uprated brakes. Have a read of our review here.

Now, JIA is venturing out and plans to launch “an all-new ultra-high-performance, luxury British GT” later this year. That’s a shadowy teaser of the new car up above, and of course we’re told that it’ll be inspired by the iconic 60s Interceptor. No word on whether it’ll take the name, though.

What we do know is that it’ll be powered by a “bespoke V8” and that it’ll provide a “fully analogue driving experience”. There will be an aluminium chassis underneath, and it’ll be “hand-built and sold in the UK” in “ultra-low numbers”. Brave.

JIA says that it’ll create a new dedicated division for its swoopy GT, and we’re promised rapid development times.

“Taking the theme of the luxury British GT to fresh, thoroughly modern heights, JIA’s first car is designed and engineered from the ground up to deliver an unmatched, deeply immersive, V8-powered driving experience,” says boss David Duerden.

“While it takes inspiration from the Jensen Interceptor launched 60 years ago, this is certainly no ‘restomod’ or ‘continuation’ and will stand proudly as a completely all-new car in its own right.”

Best start growing our moustaches now, just in case.
