Cadillac CTS news - Detroit show: Cadillac CTS - 2007

Published: 09 Jan 2007

Cadillac has gone bigger and bolder with its new CTS saloon to take on the European competition both in the US and on Audi's, BMW's and Mercedes' home turf.

With the wraps finally off, Cadillac has ceased teasing us and shown off the full extent of the CTS's makeover, which sees it grow in length and width.

The Caddy also has a glitzy new front-end treatment to make it stand out even more from its restrained European rivals.

The interior gets a major refresh, although this is a more tasteful effort than the exterior, and Cadillac has been studying the likes of Audi to help it improve the quality of materials.

Power continues to be supplied by Caddy's 3.6-litre V6 with 285bhp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or new six-speed automatic gearbox.

The new CTS will also be available with four-wheel drive for the first time, while a high-performance V-Series with V8 engine will follow on later in 2007.

Expect to see the revised CTS hit UK streets in the early summer with prices much the same as the current model range.
