GMC news - Granite rocks Detroit - 2009
Forget the massive trucks and huge SUVs, General Motors' brand GMC is downsizing at Detroit with this, the Granite concept.
Based on GM's new Delta platform, which has already spawned the new Vauxhall Astra and Chevrolet Cruze, it's the smallest GMC yet - 600mm shorter than the Terrain (current baby of the range).
Power comes from a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine hooked up to a six-speed manual 'box. Inside is an aircraft-inspired collection of LED displays and dials modelled on posh watches.
But we don't care about any of that. Just look at the thing - suicide rear doors, 20-inch wheels and awesome slab-sided boxy proportions. There's a centre exit exhaust, too. Looks great, doesn't it? No word yet on production, though.
