The new Hyundai Ioniq 3 starts from £18.5k* in the UK...
... partly because it gets the full government electric car grant
Prices for the Hyundai Ioniq 3 have been revealed, and... considering you've just read the headline, they will come as little surprise. Every version of Hyundai's funky little hatchback qualifies for Band 1 of the Electric Car Grant (ECG) knocking a hefty £3,750 off the final price of the car.
Which means those prices start from £18,495 (post ECG) for the base 42kWh ‘Advance’ model, undercutting rivals like the TG Award-winning Renault 5 and Citroen E-C3.
You want some numbers to go with those funky, 'Art of Steel' looks? You've got the choice of either a 42.2kWh battery for 208 miles of range, or a 61kWh battery for a class-leading figure (says Hyundai) of more than 305 miles. Its front wheels are powered by equally sensible 133bhp or 145bhp motors, and its 400-volt architecture means a 10 to 80 per cent recharge takes 29 minutes.
Oh, and that 'aero hatch' styling means a drag coefficient of 0.263, while more sensibleness arrives via a VW Golf-beating boot size of 441 litres. Think of all the things you can fill it with!
Four trim levels are available, including that ‘Advance’ base level, ‘Premium' that comes with such luxuries as automatic windscreen wipers, privacy glass, and a digital instrument cluster (£23,695), ‘Ultimate’ which comes with the addition of heated front seats (£26,195), and 'N Line Evo'.
That car, costing £28,195, adds some delightful N Line styling, 19in alloy wheels, and, most importantly, a spoiler.
