The very first Ferrari Luce is being auctioned for charity

What you are looking at here is the very first Ferrari Luce production car. As if you’d mistake it for anything else.

And in exciting news for the three people on the Internet that liked Ferrari’s first crack at an EV, this very car is heading up for auction at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale during the upcoming Car Week. No official estimate on how much it’ll go for, but we are told that it has a ‘value in excess of £800,000’.

That’s largely because, while the standard Luce will cost just under half a million quid, this particular one (Chassis no.0 no less) was customised through the Ferrari Tailor Made programme. As such, it gets fancy ‘Madreperla Semi-Gloss’ white paint with “iridescent reflections that evolve from green to violet depending on the intensity and angle of the light”. There’s also white wheels, white brake calipers, and you can guess what colour the special leather is inside too. All very Apple Car. Marc Newson and Jony Ive would be proud.

We’re told that the car – which has been built to US spec – is fitted with a dedicated plaque to mark it out as the first Luce production car, and all the proceeds from the sale will apparently benefit The Ferrari Foundation – a registered charity that is “committed to generating opportunity through inclusive education projects”.

On completion of the bidding, the Luce will be shipped back to Maranello, with the final delivery not actually taking place until the first quarter of 2027. Looks like those that are desperate will have to wait just a little bit longer to get their hands on one…
