Volkswagen’s new US-only brand Scout is getting closer to reality
The re-born Scout brand will produce rugged, all-electric trucks and SUVs
As you may or may not be aware, Volkswagen now owns the rights to the name ‘Scout’ that previously adorned International Harvester’s SUV built in the 1960s and 70s.
VW intends to use said name to launch a new sub-brand that’ll build all-electric SUVs and pickup trucks for the American market, and that plan has now taken another step forward, with Scout launching its website and releasing new teaser images of its intended EVs.
“Clean, bold, and intuitive, the new Scout website gives consumers a glimpse of the company's future branding and design direction,” says a press release from the newly-formed company.
“The website boasts an honest style and an intuitive user interface that is easily navigated.”
That sounds a bit like a dig at VW’s current infotainment systems to us…
As well as launching the website, Scout Motors has set up its social media profiles and a community forum for both classic and future Scout owners. It is genuinely happening then.
We’re told the trucks and SUVs will sport ‘a strong stance and upright posture reminiscent of classic Scout models’.
Excited, Internet?
