Here’s your first look at the new Renault Twingo E-Tech's interior

Cutesy reborn city car will get a 10in infotainment screen, pan roof and *lots* of storage pockets

Published: 10 Jan 2025

2024 was a good year for Renault and it’s starting 2025 off strong, via the medium of interior images of its forthcoming Twingo E-Tech. Much like the lovable R5 - which has just won the Car of the Year award - it too features a healthy mix of fresh, modern touches peppered with subtle nods to the original.

It's still a prototype at this stage, but it shows a tidy and functional dash led by a 7in digital driver’s display and 10in multimedia hub. Below that sit a few climate control switches, the push start button and a hazard warning toggle (surrounded by a translucent bubble like in the original).

We can’t spot any Baguette Holders, but maybe a Croissant Box can be optioned in later on? There are spaces under the dashboard and front seats, plus a flat area beneath the cylinder that runs the length of the cabin and acts as a pocket for smaller, everyday essentials. Like croissants, obviously. Those rear seats also fold straight down to increase cargo space.

The rear headrests feature a magnetic strip for rear passengers to attach their phones, helping little people get their Ben and Holly fix that much easier. The upholstery gains a series of colourful patterns that match the exterior finish, as do the front door panels and passenger section of the dash - further nods toward the original.

Because this Twingo's a show car, Renault's taken the opportunity to "test new ideas" and build the prototype's floor from something called ‘tinted cork’ (nope, we’re not sure either), which is apparently quite strong and resistant. There’s a rounded glass sunroof above too. Lovely.

The electrified Twingo will launch in 2026 at a sub-€20k (£17k) price point, and also supposedly have ‘best-in-class’ battery efficiency at a rate of 6.2 miles per kWh. We won’t have to wait long to test that claim.
