The small, hot Vauxhall is back: a new Corsa GSE is coming
Come on Vauxhall: give it 800bhp and make it look like the mad Vision GT car
Vauxhall has revealed plans to fill its tiny Corsa with lots of power and lots of electricity and slap a familiar (ish) badge on the back. A hot new Corsa GSE is incoming.
And Vauxhall assures us this successor to the likes of the Nova GTE and GSI and Corsa GSI and VXR will be inspired by motorsport, specifically the ADAC GSE Rally Cup.
That’s the series Vauxhall the Mokka GSE will contest – the first car in the company’s fully electric performance GSE lineup, and the one from which this new Corsa will learn.
Obviously we don’t know exactly what this new Corsa GSE will learn as yet, Vauxhall only telling us it has a “proud heritage of hot hatches” and that the GSE’s performance will be – wait for it – “electrifying” with “zero emissions”.
For reference, the Mokka features a 54kWh battery powering a front-mounted motor with 276bhp and 255lb ft. It gets a multi-plate limited slip diff, fancy dampers, big brakes and a multitude of tweaks to the steering and chassis. Expect similar treatment to this incoming Corsa GSE.
Looks? Well, that teaser image isn’t helpful, but perhaps the Vauxhall Corsa GSE is. Remember? Vauxhall has already built a Corsa GSE in the form of its comically outsized, 800bhp (!) Vision Gran Turismo car. No, the new one won’t look like a mad Group B render, but hey, we can hope.
“The Corsa GSE will combine small and agile practicality with thrilling, pure electric, motorsport-inspired power and dynamics.,” said Vauxhall boss Eurig Druce. We’ll see it later this year.
