Ford news - Ford banks on new V8 diesel - 2006

Published: 10 Apr 2006

Ford is gearing up for a future fuelled by a new luxury V8 turbodiesel engine.

The 266bhp, 3.6-litre V8 unit uses twin turbochargers to create a whopping 472lb ft of torque.

The engine is built at Ford's Dagenham Diesel Centre in Essex, and the V8 turbodiesel engine will make its way into new cars later this year.

Ford is being coy about which models will receive the V8 diesel unit, but the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Jaguar XJ are set to be first in line.
