Ford Rallying news - Ford helps future rally stars - 2006

Published: 16 Mar 2006

This odd looking creation is not some Ford concept car in disguise, but the Blue Oval's new rally training car.

The Ford Rally Sport Trainer (RST) has been specially built to help young drivers learn the skills essential to sliding around forests. A simple chassis also forms the roll cage, while a mid-mounted 1.3-litre engine drives the rear wheels.

The RST will be based at the Silverstone circuit and will allow children as young as ten to get their first taste of rallying and help discover the next Colin MacRae or Richard Burns.
