You’re looking at the new Land Rover Defender 4x4. Maybe…

This extraordinary design proposal is one of the ideas knocking around LRHQ that’s filed under ‘Defender successor’ and it’ll be revealed in full at this year’s Frankfurt motor show.

Yep. That’s right. Land Rover’s building a NEW Defender for 2015, 67 years after the original clattered onto forecourts. And, as you’d expect, LR’s design team’s being very cautious about tinkering with an outline that could feasibly outlast religion.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Director of Design, says: “Replacing the iconic Defender is one of the biggest challenges in the automotive design world; it is a car that inspires people worldwide. The DC100 isn’t a production-ready concept, but the beginning of a four-year journey to design a relevant Defender for the 21st century.”

John Edwards, LR’s Global Brand Director, Land Rover added:” Loved the world over for its simple, honest and distinctive design, we are determined that the new Defender will be true to its heritage, while meeting the requirements of a changing global market.”
