F1 Manager 2024 lets you create your own team, launching this summer

Cool custom liveries spotted in the reveal trailer, too

Published: 13 Mar 2024

Here’s something wholly unsurprising: there’s another instalment of Frontier’s wonderfully chewy F1 Manager series due this summer, and they’re calling it F1 24.

And now something that is a surprise: this time you can build and run your own team, as well as the current teams on the real 2024 grid.

Fans have been asking for the feature since F1 Manager debuted in 2022, but the wily developers at Frontier evidently know better than to rush through development packages. They’ve taken the time to do it right, then... at least we hope so.

The reveal trailer makes a promising start. If we’re being honest with ourselves, picking a cool livery design is between 95-99 per cent of the pleasure involved in establishing a new team in F1, and the schemes on show so far look very much up to the job. With a bit of tweaking to the colour schemes, we’ll give those late Eighties Benettons a run for their money.

“Customising elements of their team,” reads the announcement from Frontier, “players can curate their creativity to bring their dream designs to life, whilst negotiating sponsorship opportunities to ensure a steady stream of income to fuel their ambition.

“Identifying up-and-coming talent to rise up the grid order or cherry-picking the biggest stars in the sport in the pursuit of immediate success, the choice is theirs to make before the covers are lifted from their championship challenger.”

There’s also mention of a new mentality system this year. Driver and staff personalities will make themselves known a bit more apparently, and as team principal you’ll be balancing the team’s objectives with the individual’s. Wonder if there’s a multi 21 button yet, then.

Time will tell. F1 Manager 24 releases this summer on PC, PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. More as we have it.
