This is your Forza Horizon 6 world map and it’s, er, quite large

Making journeys on foot is not advisable

Playground Games have revealed the world map for Forza Horizon 6, releasing 19 May and bringing Japan to the series for the first time. It looks vast.

It’s the “most dense and vertical” one yet, the developer says, and that boast does hold up to scrutiny. Prior instalments haven’t exactly shied away from expansive areas, but the scale and variety here looks very exciting indeed.

You can check the map out via Forza Horizon’s post on X – we recommend opening the image in a new tab and going fullscreen, as it’s much higher resolution than it first appears.

Join us on a tour of the landscape, why don’t you? In the south of the map you’ll see the urban area, including two separate industrial-looking areas, one on an island to the south and one on the east coast. These are likely where a lot of the new Horizon Rush events will take place.

Further up to the northeast, you can see a golf course, and one of two possible airports with their extended runways, perfect for top speed testing. The golf course could make a strong venue for new online events or a revamped take on Horizon Arcade events.

Further north still, and roughly in the centre of the map, a race circuit is visible. It’s only small, but a welcome sight nonetheless.

Things get more rural in the northeast corner, holding true to the developer’s claim that this game will convey the contrasting aspects of Japan, from the bustling metropolis to traditional farmland and peaceful countryside. Finally, those hills give way to snowcapped mountains that you just know you’re going to be racing a guy in a wingsuit down in a Horizon Showcase event at some point.

Forza Horizon 6 isn’t far off now – it’s out on 19 May for PC and Xbox Series X/S, with a PlayStation 5 release coming later this year.
