McLaren 720S vs Lambo Performante: how would you spec yours?

Configurator battle time: how tastelessly can you render Geneva’s supercar stars?

Published: 10 Mar 2017

In the agonising wait before we drive two of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show’s supercar big-hitters, there’s a crucial battle to decide. Just what is the best – and more entertainingly, the worst – specification you can apply to either the McLaren 720S, or the Lamborghini Huracán Performante?

Luckily, you needn’t break out the crayons and file paper for this highly mature and important exercise. McLaren and Lamborghini have cranked out pleasingly detailed digital configurators for their latest models in double-quick time, leaving us to ponder the joys of diamond-cut wheels and brake caliper hues on Britain’s 710bhp newcomer.

And on the Nürburgring-crushing Lambo, the dilemmas will keep you up all night. To centrelock the wheels or not to centrelock? Could you really pull off British racing green? And will you get bored of explaining forged carbon is not, in fact, ‘granite off a kitchen worktop’?

Above, we’ve assembled a gallery of a tasteful 720S, featuring Azores paintwork and a smattering of carbon, and a few more outlandish Performante designs. How very Lamborghini. You can find the McLaren 720S configurator at the other end of these blue words, and once you’re finished mucking about with Woking’s finest, click here to check out the hot Huracan’s spec selection.

Well, it’s almost the weekend. What are you waiting for? And don’t forget to submit your expert opinions below…
