Don’t expect to see another generation of the Mini Clubman
It doesn’t look like everyone’s favourite six-door estate thing has a future
There’s been a whole lot to digest from Mini in recent weeks. First, we saw the new Cooper and Countryman, then it was the news that the manual gearbox was dead for the brand, and finally we learned that boss Stefanie Wurst is keen on doing another GP special edition.
But wait, because there’s one more thing you need to know – Wurst didn’t sound so positive when TG asked her about the future of the Clubman.
“I wouldn’t say the space is filled but we will not have a Clubman,” said the Mini chief about the refreshed range. “The Aceman is a smaller concept but I think the five-door space (if not the six-door) is filled well by the Countryman and the Aceman. If you look at the sales numbers worldwide the Countryman doubles the Clubman.”
The Aceman of course was a concept that we first saw back in 2022, and we already know that it’ll make production as an all-electric crossover. We’re sad that the quirky Clubman won’t get a third modern Mini generation though.
“I love the Clubman, I’m driving a Clubman at the moment,” says Wurst. “But as a big car concept we decided to go with the new Countryman.”
