Mercedes-Benz brake recall: up to 30,000 UK cars sold in affected timeframe
Merc issues global recall for 2004-2015 ML, GL and R-Class models
Mercedes-Benz has issued a global recall of nearly one million models of the ML, GL and R-Class models built between 2004 and 2015 because of an issue with the brake booster.
In a statement, Mercedes said “the function of the brake booster might be affected by advanced corrosion in the joint area of the housing”. The carmaker intends to inspect potentially affected vehicles and – depending on the results – replace parts where necessary.
It has asked customers not to drive their cars until an inspection has taken place.
Mercedes-Benz confirmed to TopGear.com that during 2004 and 2015, it sold approximately 30,000 models of the ML, GL and R-Class in the UK. “The actual number of affected vehicles will be lower,” Merc said, “as not all of these will still be on the road.
“We started with the recall process immediately and are already making great progress.”
