Hennessey has given the C8 Corvette 708bhp and an active exhaust

Mid-engined ‘Vette gets a supercharger, big wheels and a three-year warranty

Published: 28 Feb 2024

Hennessey has revealed its disaffection with the Chevrolet Corvette’s V8. Well, implicitly at least, because it has heaped on a load more power onto the ‘Vette’s flanks. Power that's now 44 per cent more... powerful.

And lo, behold the new Hennessey Supercharged H700 C8 Corvette Stringray HTC; a very long name for a car with a short temper. Not least because this s’charged C8 now kicks out 708 horsies.

It’s been delivered via a “muscular” belt-driven supercharger to the 6.2-litre nat-asp V8, along with an air induction system, an air-to-water intecooler and a new cat-back exhaust. All old school tuning, but mighty effective.

Because alongside that massive jump in power – up from 490bhp – it also gets 638lb ft of torque. Indeed it trumps even the mighty Z06 in terms of outright punch. Spend a little more and you get an active valve exhaust system, the C8 heritage livery, and 19in alloys.

All the upgrades are backed by Hennessey’s three-year/36k mile warranty, too.

“We’ve unleashed the power that Chevrolet left on the table, boosting output by more than 200bhp,” said John Hennessey. “Few cars, especially at this price, can deliver this level of power, acceleration, and engaging open-air driving experience alongside the Corvette’s distinctive V8 roar.”
