How mad is this custom Ford Focus speedster?

Want an Aston V12 Speedster or a McLaren Elva on a budget? Step right this way

Published: 01 Jun 2020

With their super-limited build numbers and million-pound-plus price tags, neither the McLaren Elva nor the Ferrari Monza could be described as a people’s car. Not quite. Heck, even the Aston Martin V12 Speedster – a bargain at £765,000 – wouldn’t quite make the grade in that category.

The humble Ford Focus on the other hand? Well, that’s much more like it. But what if you want all the benefits of a Focus (value for money, reliability, availability of spare parts etc) combined with the unhinged, wind-in-your-hair feeling that the windscreen-less speedsters from Ferrari, McLaren and Aston provide? Step forth, a Ford Focus Speedster.

This fantastic creation has been built by wild Russian tuners Ford Market, and underneath it’s actually a Mk3 Focus with the 2.0-litre Duratorq diesel engine and Ford’s much-maligned 6-speed PowerShift gearbox.

It just looks incredible though, doesn’t it? As you can see from the build pictures, the panels aren’t all standard – much of them have been transplanted from a Mk4 Focus ST. And the wheels? Well, we think they’re technically referred to as ‘chuffing massive’. There aren’t even any doors for goodness sake.

Still, we admire the work that Ford Market has put in here, and the end result is something truly bonkers. Power to the people.
