Kahn’s new Flying Huntsman is a 6x6 Defender pickup

Diesel-engined, double cab pickup is a modified, six-wheeled Land Rover truck

Published: 25 Sep 2015

Quite specific, this one. If your lifestyle needs require six wheels, three axles, a flatbed at the back and a Batman-spec paintjob, then you are a) a very unique individual, and b) very lucky.

You are lucky because Kahn has announced a new version of its ‘Flying Huntsman’ Defender, that interestingly titled modified Land Rover Defender. This one now boasts a flatbed load area at the back.

Details are scant, but the premise is quite simple: it’s a six-wheeled Defender with an open space for Things. The Flying Huntspickup was unveiled earlier this week. Presumably in several different time zones, judging by the sheer length of it.

We suspect Kahn might offer the V8 version – like its roofed sibling – though the base model gets a 2.2-litre diesel with a six speed manual gearbox. You can purchase this vehicle with the steering wheel on the correct side or the wrong side, and prices start at a mere £99,875. So it’s cheaper than the roofed one.

Kahn will only build 20 per year, too, and along with everything else that comes with this car – image, many wheels, open load space, diesel – you will also get a plaque with the names of the team who have coach-built the thing.

Does this excite the part of your inner car nerd you care not to share with people at parties?
