SEMA kicks off with a... Toyota iQ

Published: 31 Oct 2011

The world's biggest tuner show begins tomorrow in the form of SEMA, and the first pictures to land haven't disappointed. Among the garishly modified stars and garishly modified models at the Las Vegas Convention Centre will be a triumvirate of Toyota iQs penned by different tuners.

Jon Sibal - the gentleman who imagined that 1M CSL - is behind the iQ RX; a Toyota replete with a full Veilside bodykit finished in metallic grey, a ‘Nitrous Express' injection kit, 18in three-piece forged alloys and lowered ‘Air Runner' suspension.

Michael Chang gives us the motorsport-derived iQ-RS, featuring a carbon fibre bodykit, sports suspension, Sparco race seats and Advan Racing alloy wheels. Tatsu's iQ - dubbed the iQ-MR - is the most radical by far: a mid-engined city car with an engine rebuilt by Mavrik Motorsports, customised body panels and 16in Sakura wheels.

We'll have all the highlights from the show through the week on TopGear.com from our crack team in Vegas, but for now, here's a gallery to sate your appetite for modified, hopped-up Toyota city cars.

And a question. When it comes to expensively modified iQs, would you rather have one of these or a Cygnet?
