Wow, check out what Milltek wants to do to your Alpine A290

… or your poor, unsuspecting little Renault 5!

Published: 14 Jul 2026

While it looks mighty with its monstrous arches, vented bonnet and stripped out interior, there’s no getting away from the fact that Renault’s 533bhp 5 Turbo 3 E is a little bit pricey. Heck, it’s a little electric hatchback that costs £135,000 before options, and with a few boxes ticked you’re looking at a bill for over £200,000. Yikes.

So, what if you want a little bit of the look for one per cent of the price? Well, Milltek’s new bodykit costs £2,000 and is “channelling the vibes and design cues of the original Renault 5 Maxi Turbo”.

And it’s not just for the hot Alpine A290 either, because apparently the same wacky widebody look can also be applied to the standard Renault 5. Poor thing.

The kit includes the front and rear arch extensions, the funky little sideburns that extend under the headlights, a new charging flap, a rear spoiler, side skirts and updated foglights for the Alpine.

Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, we’re told that production is scheduled for Autumn this year and that it’ll be “strictly limited-edition”.

“As Group B enthusiasts, this was on the drawing board the day after we saw the first Renault 5,” says Technical Operations Manager Kev Hall.

“After months of hard work under a considerable Festival of Speed deadline, the Design team has delivered something truly special.”

Thoughts, folks?
