Students have designed the four-seat electric Lincoln of the future

Lincoln has revealed a four-seat electric saloon (sedan) at the Quail Motorsports Gathering, and it is thus. Meet the ‘Anniversary’.

Of course, there’s a little more to the story than that. And it’s… the story. Lincoln tasked the students of the ArtCenter College of Design – situated in Hollywood – to not just imagine four specific Lincolns of the year 2040, but to imagine the world in which they live.

Each concept had to abide by Lincoln’s rules – to be ‘connected, autonomous, shared and electric’. It's a long, low, sleek two-door - not unlike the Audi skysphere - though here the electric concept car features seating for four.

In the case of the ‘story’, it houses only ‘Julianne’ and ‘Greg’; our protagonists who drive the Lincoln around the favourite places of their youth as they celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. “Their Lincoln sedan is able to access digital images of the past and display their fond memories on the dashboard,” we’re told.

Other concepts designed by the ArtCollege include a ‘Glider’ saloon (two-seater), one called ‘Amongst the Stars’ (an SUV) and ‘Ensemble’ (six-seater).

Jim Farley, Ford boss, said of the students’ designs: “Thank you for putting humans, not the technology, first.”
