TG's five favourite F1 podium celebrations

Winning is a joyous thing. These F1 drivers have a funny way of showing it...

  • If you watched last weekend’s British Grand Prix (and if you didn’t, where the hell were you?), you’ll have seen now five-time winner Lewis Hamilton indulge in an activity usually reserved for the world’s most famous rock stars: the humble crowd-surf.

As podium celebrations go, it’s pretty cool. And it made him late for the post-race press conference, which is cooler still. Admittedly his celebrations didn’t involve the podium per-say, but it nonetheless got us thinking: of the many F1 drivers who’ve won races, which one has the best podium celebration? Here are our favourites. Tell us yours in the comments.

  • Daniel Ricciardo

Everyone loves Daniel Ricciardo. Hard not to. Same goes for his hilarious/disgusting/crowd-pleasing trademark. Old F1 drivers of the world: if you’re asked to do the podium interviews for a race Danny Ric has even the slightest chance of winning, just say no. He’ll make you do a shoey.

  • Rubens Barrichello

Just why Barichello felt compelled to feign surprise everytime he stepped onto a podium, we have no idea. Funny, though.

  • Mark Webber

Mark Webber is already a very tall man. But whenever he won, he felt compelled to jump high above everyone’s heads. Is being a giant not enough, Mark?

  • Michael Schumacher

Another jumper. Michael spent so much time on the podium, we’re surprised he didn’t have calves the circumference of a redwood.

  • Kimi Räikkönen

He gets a lot of stick for looking miserable, even when he does pretty well, but has anyone even considered the fact that maybe Kimi can’t smile? Who knows.
