Photo of the day: BMW's M6 GT3 wins at Spa
Monster M6 takes the top spot at this year's Spa 24hr endurance race
In 1965, BMW secured its first ever win at the 24hr Spa endurance race, using a BMW 1800 TI/SA. And now, in 2016 - following a 2015 win in the Z4 - the BMW M6 GT3 has added to the carmaker's wins at the legendary circuit.
After 531 laps and 24hrs, car number #99, driven by Maxime Martin, Philipp Eng and Alexander Sims, crossed the finish line to secure victory for BMW, after a tumultuous race.
Yep, it wasn't all plain sailing: yellow flags, a safety car and lots of traffic meant the field was constantly shifting. Seven different car manufacturers led the race at one point or another.
And the winning M6 was even outside of the top 30 for a bit, battling their way through lap by lap. During the night, it ended up leading the field, relinquished it again following a five-minute stop for a brake change, and then recaptured the top spot during the early hours of the morning.
Quite a race. And not a bad picture, either.
