Listen up: Top Gear is doing a podcast

You may have heard of these things called 'podcasts'. Well, now there’s another one to add to your subscription list, and it’s the one literally some of you have been waiting for. That’s right, Top Gear is wading into the pod space with a podcast of its own – the imaginatively named, Top Gear Magazine Podcast.

Why a podcast? Why now? Glad you asked. The truth is it’s something we’ve been plotting for years but between producing the world’s best car magazine, car website and online car videos, keeping our social channels humming and the gazillion other things we do to try and bring you the primo car content on the planet, there was never time. Always an excuse. Until now…

We realised there was a glaring opportunity here for us to build more of a bridge between you, the reader/viewer/listener, and us, the editorial team behind TG’s great content. To bring our personalities to the forefront and give you a peek behind the curtain at what it’s really like to drive other people’s cars for a living. We want to bring you the stories behind the stories, have fun and bring some levity to your day while we’re at it.

The idea is simple: each podcast - one a month, published on Wednesdays the week after the magazine hits shelves – is designed as a companion to the latest issue. Not that you need to have read the issue to enjoy it (or even know what Top Gear magazine is for the matter), but it's our springboard to shine a light on whatever we’ve been up to. We dissect the big stories, welcome special guests, play a few games and laugh. A lot.

Hosted by yours truly and Rowan Horncastle, but with rolling appearances from the whole team (when they have a warts and all story to tell), it’s the podcast you’ve always dreamed of. If, that is, what you always dreamed of was a bunch of liked-minded car enthusiasts and special guests swapping stories and getting far too excited about nerdy car details.
