Batten down the hatches! Nissan has built an electric R32 GT-R

Nissan announces its lineup of cars for the Tokyo Auto Salon. Includes Godzilla stuffed with batteries

Here’s something that might just bring internet commenters and animal rights charities together in their fury – it turns out Nissan has been force-feeding Godzilla with batteries. Poor giant, prehistoric, nuclear monster thing.

We’re told the torture began in March 2023, and that Nissan plans to show the results of its experiment at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. Oh, hang on, we see what’s happened here… wrong Godzilla. Easy mistake to make.

Although this probably won’t be any less controversial, because an actual R32 Skyline GT-R has been converted into an EV by “a dedicated team of volunteer engineers at Nissan”.

Yep, we don’t have any more info on the powertrain just yet, but we do know Nissan intended to “capture and recreate the charm of the BNR32 by integrating modern electrification”. We can only assume that means twin electric motors, all-wheel drive and bundles of power.

Wonder where you stand on an R32 EV...
